Susan G. Komen Kentucky Lights Up Louisville in Pink for 24th Annual Race for the Cure
The Big Four Bridge goes pink to spotlight Komen Kentucky’s annual breast cancer awareness event

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Oct. 9, 2019) – Susan G. Komen Kentucky and the Louisville Waterfront Development Corporation will partner to light the Big Four Bridge pink on Friday, Oct. 11 in honor of the annual Louisville Race for the Cure on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Cardinal Stadium during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The much-anticipated signature Race event raises significant funds and awareness for the breast cancer movement in order to achieve Susan G. Komen’s bold goal: to reduce the number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026. Komen Kentucky is dedicated to saving lives by meeting the most critical needs in the community and invest in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.

The local Affiliate aims to raise $200,000 during this year’s Louisville Race for the Cure to fund local services offering breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment support programs and Susan G. Komen global breast cancer research. In addition to raising funds for breast cancer, the Race tells the story of Komen’s impact, celebrates breast cancer survivorship and honors those we have lost to this disease.
