For nearly 26 years, Tassels has been a fixture in Middletown, Kentucky, and renowned for unique, high-quality fabrics, furniture, accessories, and interior design.
Tassels has come a long way - from Owner Marsha Riggle’s workroom as a stay-at-home mom to a new, expanded showroom at 12005 Shelbyville Road just across the street from their previous retail location of 24 years. When the business outgrew Marsha’s space at home, Tassels continued as a small, remnant fabric store on Old Main Street in Middletown. Customers so admired Marsha’s taste that the store grew again to include furniture and design services.
With Marsha continuing as sole owner, Tassels is now a full-service design and retail company with experienced, highly-skilled staff, most of whom have been with Tassels for over 15 years. Their services run the gamut from complete home decor or redecoration to decorating for the holidays to making recommendations for individual items to spruce up a space. The sky is the limit as far as interior design projects Tassels is prepared to tackle. “If the customer needs it, we are willing to attempt it for them,” says Marsha. Her loyal team is knowledgeable and continues to foster long-term relationships with clients and other local designers. Each team member has their specialties, including an embroiderer considered “best in town” in needlepoint.
Tassels Sales Manager Carrie Osting has been with Tassels for nearly 15 years. She has always had an interest in apparel and design. Carrie shared with us some current and future interior design trends. Her unique position working with customers on the sales floor every day gives her insight into what is taking hold here in Louisville. “Customers are yearning for color and buying more color. We need our homes to be comfortable and inviting since everyone is home more now than ever before.”
Carrie’s natural curiosity about the world of design and her drive for customer satisfaction keep her on the leading edge of future trends as well. “In the last few years, the Pantone® Color of the Year colors have been bolder than previous years.” It appears that the trend will continue as Pantone® Spring/Summer 2021 Color Trend Highlights reveal palettes such as Summer Bouquet, Intoxicating, and Power Surge. As far as trims, furniture, and accessories now and in the future, Marsha notes that younger clients prefer uncomplicated, streamlined design aesthetics. “Less is more.” With fewer pieces, each piece has more impact. These clients are also moving more and continuously changing up their home decor.
The 2020 Holiday season is upon us. If you are excited to update your decor, it’s never too early or too late to deck the halls, especially in 2020 of all years! “There’s no place like home for the holidays,” and Tassels has the perfect pieces to make yours merry.
